Kursk Nuclear Power Plant's Second Unit Back In Operation

The second unit of the Kursk nuclear power plant has been repaired and put back into operation, reports the press center of the Rosenergoatom concern. At about 7 a.m. Friday, some disorder was discovered in the unit and it [the unit] therefore had to be switched over to operation at 50% capacity. After undergoing repairs, it was put back into full-capacity operation at 2:24 p.m., Moscow time. Presently in operation are the Kursk plant's second, third and fourth power units. Their cumulative output capacity is 2,528 megawatts. The first unit is currently under repair. No violation of the Kursk plant's safe operation terms and limits has been registered. The radiation level at the station and surrounding territory is within the norm, Rosenergoatom reports.
