Russia's Contribution To World Photography Is Large

The Moscow House of Photography has organised a scientific conference on photography to mark its 5th anniversary. Many foreign museums that focus on photography willingly responded to Moscow's invitation to participate in the discussion of photography historians and photographers in Moscow. Many famous photographers came to Moscow to mark the 5th anniversary of the first Russian museum devoted exclusively to photography. Among them are Head of the Photography Department at the French National Museum of Modern Art (or the Georges Pompidou Centre) Alain Sayag, Supervisor of Musee d'Orsay in Paris Quentin Bajac, and others. The Netherlands Photo Institute and the Swiss Photography Foundation, represented by its director Peter Pfrunder, are also taking part in the conference. The relationship between architecture and photography concern Richard Pair, a photographer whose exhibition called "Russian Constructivism: Country" has been highly praised by Moscow critics. According to Alain Sayag, "the historical approach to photography" has become the most important in photography studies. At the conference, the supervisor of the Museum of Modern Art in New Mexico in the United States, Steve Yeats, and Russian historian of photography, Alexei Loginov, will speak about the contribution of the Russian avant-garde to photography. Mr. Yeats' reports are entitled "The Early Modernist Photography" and "American, European, and Russian Photographers of Early 20th Century." Mr. Loginov will deliver a paper called "Russian Photography in Late 19th Century and Early 20th Century. Avenues of Development."
