First International Russian-language Olympiad For Schoolchildren Of Postsoviet Space Countries Held In Moscow

. As the RIA Novosti correspondent was told in the Ministry of Education of Russia, the olympiad is organised by the government commission on compatriots abroad, the Ministry of Education and the A.S. Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language. Taking part in the olympiad are the pupils of general schools with Russian as the language of instruction in the CIS and Baltic countries who won the regional contests and the national Russian language olympiads. During a week the schoolchildren will compete in three rounds. The first two are in phonetics, vocabulary and grammar. The third round consists of the Young Poet and Young Speaker competitions. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the olympiad, and the absolute winner will be given a scholarship and the right to enrol without examinations at the A.S. Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language for a full-time course of training in "the Russian language and literature" speciality.
