Russian Frontier Guards Detained 69,000 Foreigners At Border

Last year 69,000 foreign nationals were not allowed to cross the Russian border due to various reasons. Federal Border Service head Konstantin Totsky said at a meeting with military advisors of foreign embassies today that citizens of 30 countries had been detained at the border. Totsky specified that this number includes both foreigners, who wanted to enter Russia, and those, who wanted to leave the country. Russia is often used as a stopover on the way to Asia and Europe. The Federal Border Service head acknowledged imperfections in Russian legislation, which had loops for illegal migrants to come into the country.
