Russia Suggests Equipping Iss With Its Rescue Spacecraft

The Russian Aviation and Space Agency, Rosaviakosmos, intends to discuss with the US NASA leadership a number of changes to be made to the technical equipment of the International Space Station /ISS/. A spokesman for Rosaviakosmos has told RIA Novosti that the talk is about the construction of an additional Russian unit and its equipment with Russian rescue spacecraft to be put on duty at the ISS in case any emergencies take place. Earlier, the USA planned to set up the production of similar rescue spacecraft. A meeting between the Rosaviakosmos leaders and the new NASA chief, Sean O'Keefe, may take place in February-March, the Rosaviakosmos spokesman reported.
