Sergei Mironov, Speaker of the Federation Council, or Russia's upper house of parliament, sees no political motives behind the Supreme Arbitration Court's decision to declare the TV6 television channel bankrupt. The aide Dmitry Kuzov made Mironov's stance known to the press on Friday. According to Kuzov, Mironov is certain that this court decision has to it "as much politics as any economic issue" does. Speaker Mironov does not think the liquidation of TV6 will undermine press freedom in Russia, Kuzov said. "Word is impossible to encage, and freedom of speech is an inner state of any person," Mironov was quoted by his aide as saying.
