Old Tv6 Team To Form New Broadcasting Company

At their meeting Tuesday, the journalistic team of the TV6 television station, ordered closed by a court last week, made decision to form a new company, says TV6 official spokeswoman Tatyana Blinova. Yevgeny Kiselev has been elected director general of the new company. The new TV6's staff will include 50 anchors, journalists, and department heads of the now defunct company, Blinova said. The new legal entity will be registered within ten days' time. According to the TV6 press secretary, all necessary documents will be submitted to the registration chamber shortly. After this, the TV6 management will apply to the Press Ministry for a temporary broadcasting permit. Late Monday, TV6 approached the ministry with a request to grant the company's major journalists and managers the right to found a new electronic mass medium and new legal entity. The TV6 management expressed hope that granting them such a right will make it possible for the company's regional partners, broadcasting to many of the Russian provinces, to avoid bankruptcy, said Blinova. Federal Press Minister Mikhail Lesin assessed as "very high" the Kiselev-led team's chance of success. However, the final decision on the matter in question rests with a federal tender commission, the minister stressed.
