Attempt To Sell Six Grams Of Osmium-187 Thwarted In Russia

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has closed a channel of bringing precious metals to the Russian Federation. RIA Novosti learnt from the press service of the FSB board for Moscow and the region that in an attempt to sell six grams of osmium-187 five persons have been detained, four of whom come from former Soviet republics. The cost of one gram of the seized osmium (its beneficiation degree is 99.7 percent) may reach several hundred thousand dollars. Osmium-187 is a precious non-radioactive metal of the platinic group. Does not occur in pure form. Osmium-187 produced mostly in Kazakhstan, said the press service of the FSB board for Moscow and the region.
