Moscow Winter-swimmers Open Winter Swimming Season

On Sunday a traditional all-city holiday opening a new winter swimming season took place in Moscow. Winter-swimmers from all Moscow gathered at the Bezdonnoye lake in Serebryany Bor to celebrate this holiday by swimming in an ice-hole. About 100 lovers of this sport dived into the frosty water and organized various competitions before the public. Women did not fail to keep up with men: they enjoyed swimming in the bracing cold water. According to popular wisdom, the secret of permanent youth lies in the cold water. Even children swam in the ice-hole. Their parents were confident that children's swimming in the ice-hole was "driving off all illnesses".
