January 3 Is First Day For Submitting Declarations On 2001 Incomes By Russian Citizens

Thursday, the 3rd of January, is the first day of submitting by citizens of Russia of declarations on the incomes, received in 2001, to the tax bodies. As RIA Novosti was told in the Ministry of Taxes and Dues (MNS) of the Russian Federation, declarations will be accepted till April 30, 2002. This year the declaration campaign will be different from the previous ones. This is connected with the introduction from January 1, 2001 of the flat 13-per-cent rate of the tax on incomes of individuals. Citizens can now submit a tax declaration only if they want to receive a social deduction from a taxable base. The submitting of declarations is compulsory only for individual entrepreneurs without formation of a legal entity. Social deductions may be made in connection with expenditures of a tax-payer on his/her education and education of his/her children, as well as on his/her medical treatment, and the medical treatment of the spouse and children on the territory of Russia /not more than 25,000 roubles - about 800 dollars - for each person/.
