Kremlin Hosting Christmas Musical Festival

Chamber orchestra "Kremlin" is for the 6-th time holding the annual musical festival "Christmas in the Kremlin". The event envisages four concerts which will take place in the Armoury Chamber of the Moscow Kremlin on January 9 through 18. The programme of the Christmas concerts traditionally comprise most popular compositions by Schubert, Dvorzhak, Heiden, Tchaikovski, Shostakovich, according to "Kremlin" press spokesperson Yevgenia Shidlovskaya. These are what the orchestra will play on January 9. The January 11 concert will be devoted entirely to French music, with Saint-Saens and Debussi's compositions to be played among others. Christmas concerts certainly cannot do without Bach. To be performed at the concert on January 15 are Bach's compositions only. Apart from "Kremlin", to take part in the January 15 event is Irina Romishevskaya, Moscow's New Opera mezzo, and American clavesinist Kathleen Macintosh. This festival is the brainchild of Misha Rakhlevsky, "Kremlin" artistic director and conductor, who founded the orchestra in 1991 having gathered 18 young gifted Russian stringed musicians.
