Russian Actress Stars in Best Swedish Film-2002

Lukas Moodysson's film "Lilja Forever" starring a Russian actress, has been acknowledged the best film-2002 in Sweden.

The young and famous Swedish director tells a story about "neglected" teenagers and their sexual exploitation. His film won the prestigious annual award of the Swedish Cinematography Institute.

The film is based on the notorious story of a 16-year-old Lithuanian girl, who came to Sweden in search of a good job, which turned into sexual exploitation. The girl committed a suicide.

Young Russian actress Oksana Akinshina acted as the teenager from the former Soviet Union. This "Russian discovery" of director Lukas Moodysson won the main Swedish film award Guldbagge (May-bug) as the best actress.

It is unusual that the film attracted attention of Swedish politicians and became a subject of discussions and even special school lessons.

The sexual exploitation of women and teenagers and the organisation of international co-operation in the assistance to the victims of sexual exploitation have been a popular subject of discussions in Sweden for several years.
