Russian Expedition Heads for Antarctica

On Wednesday, January 22nd, a Russian expedition will head for Antarctica to climb three unconquered peaks and give them Russian names. The expedition, headed by State Duma deputy Valery Kuzin, the first vice-president of the Russian Olympic Committee, includes 10 extra-class mountaineers. Divided in three groups, they will climb the ranges of Mulig Hoffman and Wolthat.

According to Valery Kuzin, in addition to sports achievements, the expedition is to carry out scientific medical experiments to study reactions of human organism in the conditions of low temperatures and mountainous climate.

The expedition will also test new technical models, including unique landrovers, constructed by Russian designer Vladimir Chukhov.

In addition, the expedition is to restore Russia's positions on the coldest continent of the planet.

The expedition is to return to Moscow on February 13th.
