French press was very enthusiastic about the first appearance of Dmitry Sychev, ex-forward of Spartak and Russian national team, in the team of Olympique (Marseilles).
The largest sport newspaper "Equip" reported that the first appearance of Dmitry Sychev on the field of the Velodrome stadium in Marseilles in the game against Renna immediately made him member of the team which assumed leadership of the national championship. Sychev joined the game, in which the club from Marseilles defeated visitors from Bretagne 2:0, 6 minutes from the final whistle.
The newspaper indicated that appearance of Sychev was met with enthusiasm by Olympique fans who sang Kalinka in his honor and wildly applauded when Sychev two times broke through into the area to nearly score the third goal against Renna.
In its turn the Parisian newspaper wrote on Wednesday in its report of the Olympique-Renna match that "Olympique's coach Alain Perrron let Dmitry Sychev play in order for Marseilles players to feel the taste of victory, but the young Russian player who wore his jersey with number 22 on it for the first time nearly scored the third goal against Renna several seconds from the full time."
