Gas Masks for Cats and Dogs Popular in Israel

Israeli vet Rafi Kishon designed a special gas mask for cats and dogs. The doctor says that the mask fits dogs of all breeds: the masks are made of special elastic fabric which allows to put it even on frightened animals.

A gas-mask for protection of a pet’s life costs about 15 dollars. Besides, the mask can be supplied with an anti-dote, antibiotics and a tranquilizer.

In 1991, during the Gulf War, Doctor Kishon’s dog went in hysterics every time it heard explosions, that is why the vet knows perfectly well that it is important not only to save the pet’s life, but even to calm it.

Meanwhile, head of the Israeli local authority Adi Eldar says that thousands of immigrants from the former Soviet republics don’t know what they must do in case of probable chemical or bacteriological missile attacks from Iraq, as the people don’t speak Hebrew. Boxes with gas masks, which are obligatory for every Israeli, contain instructions in Hebrew, Russian and several other languages; however, the boxes can be opened after special orders only. What is more, Israel’s Russian-language media pay little attention to explanatory work concerning the problem of protection in cases of chemical or bacteriological attacks.
