Exhibition of Taimyr masters of art

The exhibition of masters of art from the Taimyr /Dolgan-Nenets/ autonomous district has opened in Novosibirsk /centre of the Novosibirsk region in Western Siberia/ at the residence of the Russian President's Plenipotentiary Representative in the Siberian Federal District.

The exhibition was organised by specialists of the local regional museum of area study and the regional centre of folks art with the support of the administration of Taimyr /the peninsula in the Laptev Sea, Arctic Ocean/, the regional information centre "Siberia" reported.

The exhibition displays scenic and graphic works of artists who are famous on Taimyr and abroad, ornamented clothes of Dolgans, Nenets and Ngasans, collection of idols and amulets from the collection of the museum of area study. The total number of exhibits at the museum of area study exceeds 60,000 units.

The Taimyr regional museum of area study opened in 1937, and ever since the museum has collected and kept collections, which reflected the environmental peculiarities, historic course of the Taimyr autonomous district development and the culture of its peoples.
