At This Time, Just 8% to 10% of Russia's Citizens Can Do Sports

Because sports infrastructure is underdeveloped and because of the shortage of gyms, swimming pools, and courts, just 8% to 10% of all Russia's citizens can do sports. According to the press service of Russia's President, such is the conclusion arrived at in its report by President's Chief Control Directorate, following the checks run on the sports-organising activities of federal executive authorities.

The checks showed that certain steps were being made to conform to the Federal Law 'On Physical Culture and Sports in the Russian Federation'. However, the checkers believe that, on the whole, the situation is far from satisfactory.
