European Union's Programme to Create Family Medicine Takes off in Russia

In Russia, the European Union begins carrying out the project entitled 'The Development of Primary General Medical Services of the Family Type'. According to the statement made today at a press conference by Rob Mac Quiston, the budget of this two-year program amounts to EUR 3 million. Participants from Russia include The Moscow Sechenov Medical Academy, the State Duma's Committee for the organisation and Development of Public Medical Services, the healthcare organisations of federal districts, and others.

Experimental programme sites will be created in two regions located in the Central and Privolzhsky Federal Districts. They will become models for developing the financial and legal models of family medicine, monitoring systems, and centres for training medical personnel and teachers.
