Minsk hosts international movie festival

The 9th international movie festival, i.e. Listopad (Autumn Leaf-Fall) -- 2002, opened in the Belarussian capital today. The festival will be offering the best Belarussian, Russian, CIS and Baltic films of the two previous years.

Actors and film directors from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia, Ukraine and Estonia are to attend this festival.

Russia will send in the most massive delegation, also showing quite a few movies, such as "Anti-Killer" by Yegor Mikhalkov-Konchalovsky, Filipp Yankovsky's "Moving On", "The House of Fools" by Andron Mikhalkov-Konchalovsky, "Let's Make Love" by Denis Yevstigneev, Alexander Rogozhkin's "Cuckoo", as well as "The Lover" by Valery Todorovsky. Alexander Sokurov's "Russian Ark" has been entered in the festival's movie competition (preview).

CIS and Baltic movies, as well as short films, video films and documentaries, will be shown during this festival. Moreover, the festival's audiences will be able to see famous movies, which had received prizes during international film festivals, in retrospect.

The fourth international festival of movies for children, i.e. Listopadik (Little Leaf-Fall), began November 22, offering masterpieces by Belarussian, French, Russian, Kazakh, Chinese, Czech and Estonian film directors.
