Great resettlement of elephants

A South African Republic’s battleship Uteniqua will be soon turned into a real Noah’s Ark. But it will transport elephants and other wild animals: over 200 animal of different sexes are to be delivered from Namibia to Angola in the ship.

The humanitarian operation is called Noah’s Ark. Almost all animals have been killed in Angola over a 27-year civil war in the country. As the war is over, the South African and Botswana governments are ready to help Angola. Elephants will walk from preserves of these countries right to a Namibian port, and then will be delivered to Angola by sea. On the arrival to the country, the elephants are to be entrucked at the machines brought with the same ship and delivered to the natural preserve of Quissama situated 70 km from Luanda.

The great resettlement of elephants is certainly to be the most interesting part of the Noah’s Ark operation. Together with the elephants, several pairs of antelope, cheetah, buffalo and other animals are also to be delivered with the battleship. It is believed, the animals will feel good at a new place and be as fertile there as on their native land. The operation is designed to restore the Angolan pre-war fauna. Angolan President Eduardo Dos Santos personally controls the course of the operation.
