Celebrations devoted to 190th anniversary of the battle of Borodino

Celebrations devoted to the 190th anniversary of the battle of Borodino (the decisive battle in the war of 1812, which heralded the final defeat of Napoleonic troops by the Russian army) are taking place on September 7-8 in the historical field of the Russian glory, Borodino, Moscow region.

This year the festival agenda envisages a lot of new events: A new exposition "Borodino: the Battle of Giants" is to open there. Solemn ceremonials are to be held at places where command posts of Mikhail Kutuzov (Russian Army's then Commander-in-Chief) and Napoleon were situated. Demonstrative actions of the cavalry regiment, as well as the parade of the Airborne Troops battalion exercises are to be held as well. The festivity is to be closed by an international scientific conference "Borodino and Napoleonic wars. Battlefields, military engagements, memorials." A dramatized performance will certainly take place once more, to be watched by 150,000-250,000 people, according to the festival organizers' expectations.
