Football Championship of handicapped

According to a RIA Novosti correspondent, another regular Football World Championship for the handicapped started on September 5th in Sochi (a resort city on the Black Sea).

Teams from England, Argentina, Brazil, Ghana, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine and Uruguay came to participate in the Championship.

"The Russian team of handicapped players is the favourite of the Championship," team captain Alexander Kozhakin thinks. "The team was formed from many high-spirited people. Many of them, after receiving gun-wounds in their legs in the course of the Afghan and Chechen wars, did not lose their courage and were strong enough to resume their studies, work and, moreover, went in for sports.
