Russian billionaire divorces his wife after 30 years of marriage

Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov divorced his wife, President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFCG) Irina Viner.

Viner made the divorce announcement herself, Match TV reports.

Earlier on July 6, it became known that Usmanov had withdrawn the claim for divorce from the court.

"The plaintiff withdrew the statement of claim, the judicial proceedings on the claim have been terminated,” officials said.

The former spouses have been married since 1992.

After the start of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine, Alisher Usmanov fell under the sanctions of the European Union. In April, he filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Justice to dispute the listing.

By 2022, Usmanov had an estimated net worth of $19.5 billion and was among the world's 100 wealthiest people. Usmanov made his fortune after the collapse of the Soviet Union, through metal and mining operations. He is the majority shareholder of Metalloinvest, a Russian industrial conglomerate. He owns the Kommersant publishing house. He is also a co-owner of Megafon, Russia's second-largest mobile telephone operator, and owner of Udokan copper which develops one of the largest copper deposits in the world.
