Competition of first billiards championship of Europe to be held in Minsk according to classical pyramid rules

The draw of the first Open championship of Europe in billiards will be held on Wednesday. The championship will begin in the capital of Belarus, Minsk, on November 14th and will be staged on the basis of the classical pyramid rules.

On the basis of the results of the draw 64 billiards players from 23 countries will be divided into eight groups. Four winners will be determined in each group on elimination after two defeats. They will advance to the second round of the competition.

The contest will be held in the most complex game of Russian billiards - pyramid: a player may hit any ball with any ball, and he who is the first to put eight balls into a pocket wins.

The tournament which will last till November 17th will be held at one of the best sports centres of Minsk - the physical-culture and health-building centre of the Atlant plant. The list of the entrants includes billiards players from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Belarus, Germany, Georgia, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Romania, Turkmenia, Ukraine, Finland, Croatia and Estonia.
