Exhibition devoted to Russian artist Malevich opened in Madrid

A "Malevich and cinema" exhibition devoted to Russian artist Malevich started its work in Madrid.

According to the report of the RIA Novosti correspondent, the famous "Black Square" picture and other works of the artist are displayed at the exhibition. The exposition demonstrates influence of Russian avant-garde on contemporary art, in particular, on cinematography.

In total, 125 pieces of art painted by representatives of avant-garde of the 20-30es of the last century are exhibited there, including works by Aleksander Rodchenko, El Lisitsky and others, together with photographs and posters of that epoch, stills from films by Sergei Eizenstein and Dziga Vertov "Strike", "Potyomkin Battleship", "October" and "Man with a camera".

At the exhibition one can also see works of contemporary Russian and Western innovative artists Ilya Kabakov, Ive Klein, Sol Le Vitte, Richard Serra who were affected by esthetics of Malevich and his contemporaries.

Russian art is becoming more popular in Spain, which preserves great artistic traditions. Such recently held triumphal exhibitions as "Marc Chagal in Russia", "Russian Impressionism", "Chagal and the Bible", "Amazons of the Avant-garde", "Russia, the 21st Century", "Russian Symbolists", "Masterpieces of the Tretyakov gallery", "Russian Madmen" became events in various cities of the country.
