Police Jeers At Shakespeare

Specialists from the German Federal Department for CriminalInvestigations were curious to see how famous figures of culture of the previous centuries would look on today’s police sketches.

Students of the theatre department from the Cologne University agreed to help police with organization of an unusual exhibition where people can see police sketches of Shakespeare, Mozart, Moliere and other six famous theatre figures.

The policemen who worked on the exhibits of the unusual exhibition didn’t make the sketches resemble real photos; on the contrary, the sketches of famous figures of art look just exactly the way as they could be inserted in criminal cases.

The sketches were done on the basis of historical drawings and pictures from the collection belonging to the theatre department of the University. One of the exhibition organizers, Professor Elmar Buck says that the exposition was designed with a view to “show the people how Mozart and other famous figures would look if they were living in our epoch.”
