Head of Russian federal frontier service thanked Japanese doctors for saving Gamova's life

Head of the Russian Federal Frontier Service /FPS/ Konstantin Totsky expressed genuine gratitude to the Japanese side for saving Larisa Gamova's life. She is the widow of Colonel Vitaly Gamov killed in a terrorist act.

On his behalf and on the behalf of the Frontier Service Totsky thanked governor of the Hokkaido prefecture Tatsuya Hori as well as the head staff and medical personnel of the Kirin university for saving Gamova's life, for their sympathy, warmth and care, said the headquarters of the frontier Service to RIA Novosti on Wednesday. "The Japanese side showed the example of highest humanity," stressed the Federal Frontier Service. The attempt at Major-General Gamov, who was Deputy Head of the FPS Pacific regional administration, was committed on the 21st of May. At night the criminals threw incendiary bottles at his apartment.

The Gamovs received serious burns and were taken from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to the burns center of the Japanese town Sapporo by plane. Doctors failed to save Vitaly Gamov's life due to the graveness of his burns. His wife Larisa survived. "The Japanese doctors managed to do a miracle," the Federal Frontier Service pointed out.

On the 10th of September Gamova returned to Moscow and is currently undergoing rehabilitation course in the Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery.
