Kremlin Cup winner among world's 50 best tennis players

Winner of the Kremlin Cup tennis tournament in Moscow Frenchman Paul-Henri Mattieu has burst into the list of the world's fifty best tennis players. At the moment, the 20-year-old player from France is ranking 49th with 128 points in the rating list of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). So, Mattieu has improved his standing by 25 points compared to last week.

No changes have taken place in the list of the top ten players. Lleyton Hewitt from Australia is, as before, the leader with 697 points, followed by American Andre Agassi (554 points). Marat Safin from Russia (460 points) is in third place. Having qualified for the Kremlin Cup semi-finals, he came 19 points closer to second place.

Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero is ranking fourth (425 points).

The ATP rating list of the top ten tennis players also includes 5. Tim Henman (Great Britain, 420 points), 6. Carlos Moya (Spain, 402), 7. Albert Costa (Spain, 393), 8. Tommy Haas (Germany, 388), 9. Andi Roddick (USA, 383), and 10. Roger Federer (Switzerland, 360 points).

Alongside Safin, three other representatives of Russia are figuring among the world's top 100 best players. Yevgeny Kafelnikov ascended two steps higher and is now holding 23rd place with 222 points.

Mikhail Yuzhny fell one line lower as against last week and is now standing 40th with 149 points. And Nikolai Davidenko who figured 97th a week ago is now in 100th place with 52 points.
