Despite the complicated situation in the country evacuation of Russian citizens from Cote d'Ivoire is not planned at the moment

On Thursday diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation in Cote d'Ivoire reported that the Russian embassy in Cote d'Ivoire at the moment "did not plan neither partial nor complete evacuation" of Russian citizens in connection with the present situation in the country.

According to an embassy official, presently about 150 Russian citizens were staying in the country (registered in the consulate). Their number comprises both diplomats and Russian women who married local residents.

The embassy official reported that "the majority of Russian citizens were staying in Abidjan. Several families lived in Yamoussoukro as well as in Bwake." While speaking about the last mentioned city the embassy official stated that from there "all Russian citizens were evacuated already two weeks ago." He mentioned that presently they were accommodated in Abidjan.

While commenting at the request of the RIA Novosti correspondent the present situation in Abidjan, the embassy official pointed out that "there the situation was quite normal." He added that a curfew from 21.00 to 06.00 was still in force", but "no combat actions were waged in the capital."
