Russian businessman arrested in Ukraine continues hinger-strike of protest

Russian businessman Konstantin Grigorishin, detained by the Kiev police on October 12th, has not yet managed to see the Russian embassy's representatives.

The businessman continues hunger striking in order to protest the detention, said the press service of the Group "Energy Standard" Russian-Ukrainian enterprise, headed by Grigorishin.

Meanwhile, Russia's embassy in Ukraine has not yet received the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's answer to its note, submitted on October 14th, requesting to meet Konstantin Grigorishin, said the Russian embassy's press attache in Kiev, Vladimir Yevgenenko on Friday. He explained that in compliance with the Russian-Ukrainian bilateral consulate convention an answer to a note should be given not later than in three days. A meeting itself should be arranged not later than in four days, the diplomat pointed out.

Now Grigorishin is being kept in an isolation ward in Kiev. He is charged with illegal storage of weapons and drugs, which he allegedly had on him during the arrest. His counsel for the defense assures that the pistol and drug powder were put to the businessman stealthily during the detention.
