Woman gives birth to quadruplets in Nizhny Novgorod region

 

On February 18, 2015, a 28-year-old woman resident of the town of Uren, the Nizhny Novgorod region, gave birth to quadruplets - three girls and a boy. Nine medical specialists helped the woman in her labor.  

The patient was hospitalized at the department of pathology of pregnancy of one of the maternity hospitals of Nizhny Novgorod during the 23rd week of pregnancy. The woman received Caesarean section at 31-32 weeks; the team of medical specialists consisted of nine physicians. The newborns remain at the ICU, their condition is satisfactory, Pravda.Ru reports. 

As Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev noted, the creation of a three-level health system made it possible to expand opportunities of high-tech medical care. At present, as many as 13,370 people can receive such medical assistance without leaving the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region. This number is 33 percent higher than it was before. 

"At present, the primary objective is to ensure the quality of medical assistance and raise the efficiency of the new structure. Anyone who needs outpatient or inpatient treatment should have an opportunity to receive this assistance in a timely manner," said Shantsev.
