600,000 chews picked in Beijing square!

About one thousand of cleaners were employed for clearing the Beijing square Tiananmen. It is reported that 600,00 chewing gums were found among the wastes in the square. Special chemicals were used for the clearing. Special calculations were made which revealed that removal of one chewing gum stuck to the ground costs about one yuan.

Chinese newspapers reported on Friday that the Beijing administration is going to impose gross penalties on those who litter the streets and squares with chewing gums. Citizens of Beijing are also invited to say their opinion concerning the problem and suggest how it can be settled.

The grand clearing of Tiananmen was held after October 1, when lots of tourists came to the Chinese capital for celebrations dedicated to China’s National Day; majority of the festivities were held in the large central square.
