Tina Turner declines U.S. citizenship

The online version of The Washington Post said that famous American singer Tina Turner gave up the U.S. citizenship . An article in the online newspaper appeared under the headline "Tina Turner formally 'relinquishes' US citizenship".

The publication referred to the documents of the U.S. Embassy in Bern, from which it became known that the legendary pop diva had voluntarily given up her American citizenship. According to the newspaper, the 74 -year-old singer said that she only had her family in the U.S. and that she had no intention to live in the country.

Tina Turner has been living in Switzerland for almost 20 years with German producer Erwin Bach. They got married in the summer of 2013. Shortly before the wedding, Turner received the Swiss citizenship.

The winner of eight Grammy Awards announced retirement from music in 2009.
