Sexual equality: Russia 61st

Russia was ranked 61^st on the ranking of equality of sexes the World Economic Forum for 2013. The country has thus slipped two steps down compared to the previous year. 

In 2013, the first place on the ranking was taken by Iceland, followed by Finland and Norway. The top five also included the Philippines.

The list contains 136 countries. The authors of the ranking explore the extent, to which the rights of men and women are implemented in different countries. The researchers, particularly, consider the state of women's health in a society, their life duration, the participation of the fair sex in political and economic life of their country, their level of education and other factors.

Despite the fact that Russia takes only the 61^st place on this ranking, the country is the second most advanced state among BRICS countries.

According to the authors of the report, from the point of view of the participation of women in the economic life of the country and their abilities, Russia takes the 42nd place. As for living standards and the  duration of life, Russia was placed 34th. The level of education of Russian females allowed the country to take the 36^th line on this indicator.
