Belarus to march against abortions

In Minsk, the capital of Belarus, the first national march will be conducted on September 21 in defense of life and family. The event is organized by the Belarusian Orthodox Church and several civic organizations. The march will start with a liturgy at the Holy Spirit Cathedral and the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary. After the service, the procession will move towards the City Hall and proceed to the "Minsk - Hero City" monument, where the meeting of civil initiatives "The Right to Life" will take place.

The march is intended to draw public attention to traditional family values.

Representatives of the Orthodox Church said that Belarus was ranked second in the world on the number of divorces, third on the number of abortions and fourth on the number of suicides. The lives of more than a hundred children are terminated in the country every day.

Back in 2012, the church appealed to the Government of Belarus to ban abortions on the legislative level. In early 2013, the leadership of the republic banned late-term abortions.
