Rupert Everett joins far-fetched gay hysteria against Russia

British gay actor Rupert Everett joined the proposal of writer Stephen Fry to boycott the Olympic Games in Sochi, allegedly due to violations of the rights of sexual minorities in Russia, reports the Guardian.

The actor, best known for such films as "Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Importance of Being Earnest," "An Ideal Husband", said that he "absolutely" agreed with what Stephen Fry said in his open letter to British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The latter, in turn, said he did not consider boycott  a necessary measure. Nevertheless, Cameron had a meeting with Fry in a London pub, owned by businessman Alexander Lebedev (owner of The Independent) and actor Ian McKellen to discuss the situation.

Everett said that he was supportive of Fry's stance at an international book festival in Edinburgh. Everett said that being a member of the delegation from the United Nations, he once visited a Russian hospital, where some activists told him about the need for HIV-infected gay men to pretend drug addicts. The actor did not say how long ago it was.
