A resident of Chita, Alexander Shestakov, who froze his two young nephews and one niece to death during New Year holidays, was sent to jail for 22 years. 

The story that shocked the whole country took place on January 2, 2013. Shestakov, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, decided to punish three children that he had to look after.

The man locked the children in the unheated bath house when it was -25 Centigrade outside. The children spent seven hours there. Two boys died from hypothermia, their sister survived, but her legs had to be amputated.
