Former Miss America, Erika Harold, will run for the U.S. Congress from the 13th electoral constituency of Illinois, Politico said.
Erika will represent the Republican Party to challenge Republican Rodney Davis from the 13th Congressional District of Illinois.
33-year-old Harold won the title of Miss America 10 years ago. She studied at Harvard. In 2004, she was a delegate to the national convention of the Republican Party. She announced her intention to compete with Davis on Tuesday. According to her, her past beauty queen status is a fact of her biography that will help her get a seat in the Congress.
Harold is politically conservative, and was the Youth Director for the Republican primary campaign of Illinoisgubernatorial candidate Patrick O'Malley. She later served as a delegate to the 2004 Republican National Convention.
