Marat Safin from Russia has qualified for the quarter-finals of the representative tennis tournament of the Masters series which is being held in Paris this week.
On the day before the Russian player took a difficult win over Dutchman Sjeng Schalken who was seeded Nu. 15 in the tournament.
Nicolas Escude from France will be Safin's opponent in the next match. Safin and Escude have played four times against each other, with Escude winning three times.
