It's raining spiders in Brazil

A man from the city of Santo Antonio da Platina uploaded a video on YouTube titled "It's raining spiders in Brazil." The video, posted February 7 shows thousands of insects hanging from the tree branches and high voltage wires. It appears that the insects are falling from the sky.

"The reasons for this behavior of insects are not known yet, but we will investigate that and expose the answer to this question," the author of the video wrote.

It was later revealed that the insects were so-called "social spiders," Anelosimus eximius that create mass colonies in South America. Coming together, the spiders weave large webs. The number of insects in a single colony may reach  50,000.
