Chanel No.5 and Miss Dior can disappear from retail chains

World-famous perfume Chanel No.5 can be banned because the divine substance in a bottle can be too allergic to people. To create this fragrance, perfumers have been using a special type of tree moss for many decades. The moss appeared on the list of allergens in Europe, reports Rosbalt.

In addition to the favorite fragrance of Coco Chanel and Marilyn Monroe such perfumes as Miss Dior, Shalimar by French house Guerlain and Angel by Mugler can be banned for the same reason. If they are found dangerous to health, the bottles of these fragrances may disappear from retail chains.

Chanel No.5 perfume was created in 1921 by perfumer Ernest Beaux, and became the world's first synthetic fragrance. According to legend, Coco Chanel asked the perfumer to create a fragrance that smells like a woman. To execute the order, Beaux experimented with aldehydes - synthetic floral scents. Ernest Beaux was a perfumer of the Russian Imperial Court, but was forced to flee Russia because of the revolution in 1917. In 1954, Marilyn Monroe, when asked what she wears when she goes to bed, said: "Nothing but a few drops of Chanel No.5".

Floral fragrance Shalimar Guerlain first appeared in 1925 for the World Exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris. The creators of the perfume were inspired by the story of Princess Mumtaz Mahal, whose husband had built Taj Mahal for her.
