35-year-old wrestler dies of heart failure

Sergei Artyukhin, a 2005 champion of Europe in Greco-Roman wrestling in the heavyweight category has died. The 35-year-old athlete died of heart failure.

Artyukhin, who also won the World Cup in 2001, performed for Russia at international competitions. During the recent years of his sports career, he was playing for Belarus, F-Sport said with reference to the Wrestling Federation of Russia. Three years ago, Artyukhin left professional wrestling and started playing hockey.

The athlete's heart failed after a hockey training. The deceased athlete was the brother of a famous hockey player, a striker of Petersburg SKA and the Russian team, Evgeny Artyukhin, adds MR7.ru.

A famed Soviet hockey coach, Master of Sports Vladimir Vasiliev, died on August 8. The 71-year-old former athlete also died as a result of sudden cardiac arrest.

The two-time Olympic champion of the Soviet national hockey team, Vladimir Krutov, died on June 6. He was admitted to intensive care unit with internal bleeding; his heart stopped three days later, Radio Mayak said.
