Monument to Steve Jobs to be erected in Russia

The contest for the best concept of the monument to the legendary Steve Jobs was announced in Russia's St. Petersburg. The authors of best ideas will receive Apple products as prizes.

Anyone can suggest any idea of ​​the monument to Steve Jobs in St. Petersburg. It can be a classical monument, a stele, a memorial plaque, or even an electronic installation. The winner will be selected on the base of both the Internet voting and the views of the authoritative jury that will consist of IT professionals of Saint Petersburg.

Applications should be sent to e-mail: jobs.in.spb @ gmail.com or posted on the feedback page on the website: http://idea-job.org. The works will be accepted till August 6th.  The results of the contest will be summed up on August 10.

It is worth mentioning that St. Petersburg is not Russia's only city that intends to pay tribute to Apple's founder. The contest for the best design of the monument to Mr. Jobs also takes place in Novosibirsk. In Novosibirsk, the monument is to be installed in Akademgorodok (Academic Tonwship) near the Center of Information Technologies, reports Novosibirsk-news.ru.

The initiators of the monument to Steve Jobs in Novosibirsk have collected only 55,000 rubles ($1,700) from the required amount of 600,000 rubles ($18,750) in six months, news agency NIA Novosibirsk said. The young people are certain that they will collect the required amount by the end of the year. If their expectations are justified, it will be the world's second monument to Jobs. The first one opened last December in Budapest.
