Motorboat injures Russian tourist in Egypt

A motorboat injured a Russian tourist from St. Petersburg in Egypt's Sharm-el-Sheikh. The woman tries to receive a compensation for the injuries that she suffered while swimming.

The woman said that she had been run over by the motorboat in the swimming zone. The hotel employees were startled with the accident that happened to the tourist. It took them some time to realize what happened before they could provide first medical aid to the tourist. As a result, the woman received help from another Russian tourist, who became an eyewitness of the accident.

As soon as the woman returned to Russia, she went to the Association for the Protection of Tourists' Rights seeking legal help. The woman hopes that she will be compensated for the damage that had been caused to her health.

"Basic claims can be set forth to the person who was navigating the boat, although this is quite a complicated legal procedure. In this case, one will have to prove evidence to the court," Svetlana Merzhvinskaya, a legal expert with the Baltic Association for the Protection of Tourists' Rights said.

As it was reported previously, Russia is working on the creation of the fund for the protection of consumer rights in the field of tourism. The fund will be established on the base of the fees received from tour operators. The Ministry for Sport and Tourism suggests the rate of 0.5% from the profit which tour operators receive in the course of their activities.
