A ten-ton pedestrian bridge was stolen in the Czech Republic. Perpetrators dismantled the bridge with the help of a crane. They also stole nearly 200 meters of railway tracks worth nearly 5,000 euros.

The thieves managed to trick the local authorities. They provided counterfeit documents to police officers and said that there would be cycle tracks built instead of the railway tracks. The perpetrators used a crane to dismantle the bridge and the tracks underneath.

Officials with SZDC - a company that administers railways in the Czech Republic - evaluated the damage at 4,800 euros. It was also said that the police had identified the criminals. Most likely, the thieves will try to sell the tracks and the bridge construction as scrap metal.
