Nizhny Novgorod administration promotes regional products

Last Friday, Nizhny Novgorod launched the holiday fair titled "Buy the goods from Nizhny Novgorod." More than 35 local producers of food and non-food products presented their goods at the fair.

Deputy minister for the support and the development of small business, consumer market and services in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Vladimir Seleznyov, took part in the opening ceremony.

"One may say for certain that the products from our large enterprises can already be found in stores. That is why we promote the products from small enterprises and family farms at such fairs," Seleznyov told reporters.

Regional companies can participate in the fair free of charge. The number of applications for the participation in "Buy the goods from Nizhny Novgorod" fair grows every year. There were 30 of such applications submitted this year. For 2012, local enterprises have already sent in more than 50 offers from the enterprises in all parts of the region.

"Organizing fairs is only one direction in the target program "Buy the goods from Nizhny Novgorod. The project is conducted to improve the cooperation between the local producers and large networks, to develop the logistic infrastructure of the region, increase the share of local goods in stores of both the regional center and remote districts of the region. This work has already brought the results. Three years ago, the share of the goods from Nizhny Novgorod enterprises in stores made up not more than 15 percent. The governor initiated the program "Buy the goods from Nizhny Novgorod" to promote the regional products among the consumers. Today, the share of local goods has grown 3.5 times. The share on certain positions, for example, bread - reaches 100 percent," Seleznyov said.
