Forensic experts determined that Nikolai Shadrin, a resident of Moscow, who was charged with murder and cannibalism, was a mentally unbalanced individual.
Lawyer Sergei Polyakov said that a group of psychiatrists examined Shadrin in November. The committee came to conclusion that the patient was in need of coercive treatment, Vesti.Ru website says.
"It means that the criminal case will not contain the indictment when it comes to court. The file will say that Shadrin will have to go through a complex of medical measures coercively," the lawyer said.
Nikolai Shadrin was arrested in Moscow in May of this year. Shadrin killed his friend and ate a part of his liver. The criminal dismembered the victim's body and hid the remains in different parts of the city. Police officers searched his apartment and found human organs there, GZT.ru website said.
