Clooney Received An Emmy Award for Humanitarian Work

George Clooney, awarded an Emmy for his humanitarian work, had a relaxing day: Friends, including John Krasinski came to his house to shoot some hoops before the show, Clooney said backstage.

When it comes to causes that he wants to get involved in, Clooney says, "I try and pick subjects I care about and do as much as I can. The spotlight I'm in allows me to shine a light in that direction. My dad calls it a celebrity credit card that you try and cash in in different ways.", Contactmusic informs.

After receiving a standing ovation when he came on stage to accept the award, Clooney cracked: "Don't do that because then I feel like maybe I'm sick and I don't know it," People reports.

Clooney later told reporters that the highlight of his night was hanging out backstage with Tom Selleck and Al Pacino. In addition to his work for Darfur, Clooney organized a telethon for victims of the Haitian earthquake, Newser says.
