Spanish Cabin Crew Strip to Protest Unpaid Wages

A group of air hostesses from the now-defunct Spanish company Air Comet have stripped nude in a campaign to win unpaid wages from the airline.

The flight attendants posed provocatively inside a plane for the calendar, which was designed to raise awareness of their pay struggle.

Air Comet went bankrupt in December last year, and the hostesses claim they were not paid for up to nine months before it officially shut down, Ninemsn reports.

According to Fly.co.uk, the attendants protesting are those of aircraft that have been grounded and comes after they failed to get up to 8 months of unpaid wages. Over 1,000 calendars, which feature 9 women wearing their high heels, gloves and flight caps, have been selling for £13.

Miss August in the calendar, Adriana Ricardo, poses on the engine of a plane wearing a tiny bikini and heels. She says that she thinks this is a very elegant and different way to highlight their plight.

The women just want what is theirs, she continued, as they each have 8 or 9 months worth of unpaid salaries. The 9 women’s other colleagues completely support them as well, she added. It’s their hope that the calendar will raise some money and put pressure on the airline to find a solution.

Attendant turned model Adriana Ricardo said: 'We are just demanding our rights to receive what is ours, we each have eight or nine months of unpaid salaries.'

The company is said to owe around 160million euros in total with a reported seven million owed in wages to its workers.

Crew members hope the calendar will raise some money as well as put pressure on Air Comet to find a solution.

The airline filed for administration in December after a British court impounded nine of its aircraft at the request of German bank HSH Nordbank, according to a report in Daily Mail.
