Jolie Will Play Gucci's Wife

Jolie most probably will  take the part of Patrizia Reggiani, who was jailed for 29 years for her part in the killing of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci.

Angelina Jolie has made a career of portraying femmes fatales, though perhaps never before in such a literal sense. The Oscar-winning actriss is in talks to play Patrizia Reggiani, the woman jailed for ordering the 1995 killing of her ex-husband, fashion magnate Maurizio Gucci.

Jolie would be working with director Ridley Scott, who has been planning the project since at least 2007. Scott has also approached his Body of Lies star Leonardo DiCaprio to play Gucci, though the actor is not yet attached.

Reggiani was jailed for 29 years in 1999 for her part in the killing of her ex-husband, although she claimed she was involved against her will. "I have been naive to the point of stupidity," she said before being sentenced. Her story was that her personal psychic, Pina Auriemma, had first made contact with the killers and then blackmailed her into going along with the plot. Auriemma was sentenced to 25 years.

The film certainly has all the ingredients for a classic tale of intrigue, hubris and family infighting: the Gucci name has often been synonymous with fiery behaviour alongside enormous wealth.

The fortunes of the fashion house were on the verge of a glorious revival under designer Tom Ford when Maurizio was gunned down in front of his Milan apartment.

Scott plans to start work on the Gucci project in 2010, according to Guardian.uk.co.'s report.
